If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. - I Peter 4:11

Tennis star Pete Sampras and Boris Becker both make bullet-like serves. When the two met in the 1995 Wimbledon finals, tennis balls flew fast and furious.

Two weeks of hard play and hot sun baked Centre Court into a brickyard. The final featured quick points and short rallies. Only two lasted longer than five strokes.

Becker held service in the first set, winning in a tiebreaker, 7-6. But Sampras took the loss hard and served with a vengeance.

The American blitzed the German in three straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, 6-2. Sampras recorded 23 aces in the match. Becker scored only 22 points in 22 games off his opponent’s serve, seven coming on double faults. The 23 year-old Sampras captured his third consecutive Wimbledon title and sixth Grand Slam championship.

Sampras made incredible serves. They overpowered Becker and won the young champion praise.

God commands us to serve Him by serving others. Our Lord asks that we do good deeds with all our strength demonstrating an unselfish attitude. Then the praise goes to Jesus Christ and not to ourselves.
